Robyn Ochs, writer, speaker, activist and workshop leader, will present "Bisexuality, Feminism, Men and Me" at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder on March 13 at 7 p.m. in Cristol Chemistry Building room 142. Ochs is a co-founder of the Boston Bisexual Women's Network and the East Coast Bisexual Network. She has taught courses on bisexual identity at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Tufts University.

Artists, professors, students and musicians will gather at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder March 7-9 for the colloquium "Cultural Memory and Sites of Tradition."

The composer for the hit CBS television series "Survivor" will talk about creating music for television March 14 at a free public lecture hosted by the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder Entrepreneurship Center for Music. Russ Landau, whose music has accompanied films and television programs for more than a decade, will take part in an informal discussion titled "Composing for Television" at noon in University Memorial Center room 215.

Nobel Laureates Carl Wieman and Eric Cornell will appear before both houses of the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Legislature and meet with Gov. Bill Owens on Wednesday, March 6. Wieman and Cornell will be honored by a joint resolution in the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ House and Senate and Gov. Owens will proclaim March 6 as "Carl Wieman and Eric Cornell Day" in the state of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥.

Longmont's first Hispanic city councilman, the late Benjamin "Benny" Rodriguez, will be honored in a unique altar created with the help of a University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder fine arts professor. The altar was designed by Associate Professor George Rivera and the Rodriguez family. Rodriguez, a Longmont native and local business owner, died Jan. 22 at the age of 75.

During the week of March 10-15, students at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder will join with their peers on more than 3,000 campuses across North America in observance of National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week. Alcohol educators in ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder's Department of Housing are sponsoring the week's activities on campus in conjunction with the A Matter of Degree program. Students also take ownership in designing and implementing many of the scheduled programs for their campus communities.

The University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder ranks fifth in the nation for the number of graduates currently serving as Peace Corps volunteers, according to 2002 rankings released today. For several years, including last year, the university ranked second in the nation in numbers of volunteers. In 2002, the University of Wisconsin at Madison ranked first, with 96 volunteers, followed by the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor with 76, the University of California at Berkeley with 70, the University of Texas with 69 and ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder with 64.

The University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Program Council is proud to announce the theme of this year's Trivia Bowl at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder, "Trivia Bowl 2002: Beyond Palindrome." A palindrome is a word or number sequence that is the same backwards and forwards, like the year 2002. Beyond Palindrome is an adaptation on the title of the futuristic Mel Gibson movie "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome," as well as the use of the date 2002.

The ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder Center for Asian Studies will hold its first "Asia Day" on Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fleming Law Building. The event is free and open to the public, and received funding from the Freeman Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education.

A ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder graduate who went on to a 31-year career covering religion for the Los Angeles Times will share humorous stories he's gathered through the years at a free public lecture March 12. John Dart, Hearst Professional-in-Residence at the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder School of Journalism and Mass Communication, will present "The Odd You See: (The Lighter Side of) a Reporter's 30-year Search for Religion News." The talk begins at 7:30 p.m. in Eaton Humanities Building room 250, with a reception to follow.
