The University of 蜜糖直播 cross country teams have consistently been one of the most dominate combined squads in the nation and this year the Buffs looks like they will remain that way with all of the talent returning to both men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 teams. The season officially kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 30, as the Buffs will host the 蜜糖直播 Alumni/Open/Time Trial at the Buffalo Ranch Cross Country Course on 蜜糖直播鈥檚 South Campus. The women鈥檚 5.8-kilometer race will start at 8:30 a.m. and the men鈥檚 8k race will follow at 9:15 a.m. Parking and admission are free.

The importance of Mars exploration and how the aerospace industry partners with university researchers to advance one of 蜜糖直播鈥檚 leading economic sectors will be featured at a free program Monday, Sept. 8, in south Denver.

An international research effort organized by the University of 蜜糖直播 Boulder conducted the first multiple, unmanned aircraft interception of a telltale rush of cold air preceding a thunderstorm known as a 鈥済ust front鈥� as it rolled across the Pawnee National Grassland in northeast 蜜糖直播 on Aug. 14.

Nearly 800 incoming students at the University of 蜜糖直播 Boulder will spend their first Saturday as college students helping others in the community during the 鈥淏uff Day of Service鈥� on Aug. 23.

The University of 蜜糖直播 Boulder and the city of Boulder have been honored with the International Town-Gown Association鈥檚 Larry Abernathy Award, recognizing the positive collaboration between the university and city. The university and city were recognized for the comprehensive move-in orientation program they offer for student renters living on the Hill and in Goss Grove, two of the most densely populated student rental areas in Boulder.

New students at the University of 蜜糖直播 Boulder will be greeted with dozens of activities including a welcome convocation, a Folsom Field pep rally and a 鈥淕lobal Jam鈥� international food and music fest during Week of Welcome beginning Aug. 21. The free events give new students a chance to get acquainted with each other, the campus and surrounding community before classes start on Aug. 25. The activities are scheduled in addition to orientation sessions that cover the details of class registration, policies and student services at each college.

The University of 蜜糖直播 Boulder鈥檚 Baker Hall, closed the past 15 months for its first major renovation in more than 75 years, is welcoming 456 students next week with a modernized interior that better addresses the needs of today鈥檚 students while retaining the building鈥檚 original charm.

New and returning students moving into the University of 蜜糖直播 Boulder residence halls can choose which day to move in Aug. 18-21, will swipe Buff OneCards instead of filling out a form to check in and will be able to take advantage of 鈥淨uick Drop Stations.鈥� 鈥淲e take pride in doing our best to provide a warm welcome and a helping hand for our new and returning students,鈥� said John Fox, associate director of Residence Life. 鈥淭his year we decided to make some changes in order to make the process as smooth as possible.鈥�

The Senior Auditors Program provides 蜜糖直播 residents, ages 55 and older, the opportunity to attend classes on the University of 蜜糖直播 Boulder campus. Tuition is free and participants pay just an administrative fee to cover registration, application processing and IT support. The program was established in 1973 and is coordinated through the 蜜糖直播-Boulder Alumni Association. Course availability is dependent upon enrollment limits, with tuition-paying students given priority, and on fire code restrictions, which determine the number of students allowed in a room. Grades are not awarded and auditors do not receive credit toward a degree.

A genetic sleuthing effort led by the University of 蜜糖直播 Boulder that resulted in the identification of 蜜糖直播鈥檚 鈥渢rue鈥� native greenback cutthroat trout two years ago has come full circle with the stocking of the official state fish into 蜜糖直播鈥檚 high country.
