ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥

On behalf of my colleagues in the Graduate School, I am delighted to present an update on ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder graduate education and an introduction to fall 2016 Graduate School initiatives.

On Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 8 a.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom, Chancellor DiStefano will offer his eighth State of the Campus address to faculty, staff, students and the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder community. The Chancellor will address the evolution of the campus’ Flagship 2030 vision and strategy and how that relates to his top three priorities. He will also discuss key successes and challenges the campus faces.

It’s October. The time of year when the leaves fully change, snow may begin to fall, the sun starts to set earlier, and you may begin to question whether you really belong on campus. Let me assure you that, you are not alone in feeling this way and yes, you most certainly belong.

Last Friday, Vice Provost and Associate Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Education Mary Kraus announced that Shelly Bacon is moving into a new role as Assistant Vice Provost for Advising and Academic Services. ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder Today sat down with Bacon to discuss advising and other student support services on campus.

This week's homecoming events include a concert, the Pearl Street Stampede, official homecoming tailgate and the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ vs. Arizona State football game.

You Asked. We Listened. The University Libraries would like to thank the hundreds of students and faculty who filled out our recent user survey. We’d like to share what we learned. We made several changes in response the last survey, three years ago, and this year’s results showed big improvements. This year’s survey demonstrated some consistent themes about where we’re succeeding and where we need to improve.

On her way to class, amid a crowd of other students, Zurisadai Juarez-Delgado felt alone. She believed her experiences were so different from most other students that she became withdrawn, thinking no one could possibly relate to her. But Juarez-Delgado found a place where she could feel at home on campus, the inclusive community of the Education Diversity Scholars program at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder. As a result, she has discovered a career path that is changing the trajectory of her life.

The Pink Life Saver, a mobile mammography program of University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Hospital, will be on the east campus (south of the ARCE building) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 20.

As a leader in sustainability practices and fan engagement in athletics, ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder recently was recognized at the inaugural Green Sports Day at the White House. Including remarks by President Obama, the event honored organizations around the country that are taking on new actions to tackle climate change through sports.
