The Leeds School of Business is a proud member of the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program and is dedicated to supporting a principle-based ethics education that reinforces the value of ethical business and personal conduct.
Our commitment to the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program includes supporting the ethics Initiative and each of its components extending the impact beyond philosophy and theory to real world, practical application of ethical principles as a framework for personal and organizational decision-making.
Programming and approaches include courses, curriculum components, competitions, trainings, events and assessments throughout the academic year.
Business Leadership Certificate
The Business Leadership Certificate provides students with the foundations of theory and research on leadership, but emphasizes professional experiences such as mentoring, internships, and engaging in leadership roles.
By the time they graduate, students should be poised to embrace leadership challenges as they unfold, make sense of leadership experiences, thrive in a dynamic business culture, and lead with an ethical compass.
Principles-Based Ethics Case Competition
The Principle Based Ethics Case Competition offers students from the Leeds School of Business and Coloardo Law School an opportunity to explore an issue in business and apply a principles-based ethical framework of integrity, trust, accountability, transparency, fairness, respect, rule of law, and viability to their solution.
At the conclusion of the competition, students from ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Law and Leeds gather to discuss how they analyzed the case problem, and to celebrate their work with representatives from the Daniels Fund.
Flash Ethics Case Competitions
Students are presented with various ethical dilemmas to analyze through the Daniels Fund principles-based ethics framework. Students that have participated in previous case competitions will notice these cases are much shorter and are intended to take less time, while still providing a challenging dilemma.
Cases are not limited to one type of deliverable, and students have the opportunity to respond via executive memos, social media campaigns, budget analysis, and more.
Annual Interdisciplinary Ethics Tech Competition with ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Law
Held annually, the Interdisciplinary Ethics Tech Competition gives students a chance to wrestle with a real-world ethics problem in collaboration with a diverse team of students studying law, business, communication, journalism, engineering, ITP, information science, or computer science. Past case problems have featured a tech company grappling with ethical obligations related to its facial expression recognition product, and an online platform's efforts to address the challenges presented by "fake news."
The competition provides students with the unique opportunity to work as part of an interdisciplinary team on a problem involving ethical, legal, business, technology, and privacy issues similar to what they are likely to encounter after graduation. This hands-on learning experience prepares students to collaborate effectively across disciplines in their careers, and positions students to be ethical members of business management teams.
Annual National Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Case Competition
Launched in 2012, the Case Competition exposes students to a thought provoking business ethics case similar to a situation that they might face in their professional careers. This competition will help build on the solid principle-based ethical framework central to decision-making in a complex business environment. Ethics demonstrated in the competition will need to convey that principles are a constant foundation — not relative to a specific situation — and that doing what’s right should prevail over self-interest, even when the two appear to conflict.
Student teams collaboratively analyze, present, and respond to questions posed by a panel of judges. Students compete with teams from other Collegiate Program business schools. The experience challenges students’ ethical reasoning, provides a significant networking opportunity, and in the end, raises students’ awareness.

Special Collaborations
Each year, we partner with other Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Programs across state lines to host a collaborative event that focuses on a current business and legal issue analyzed through principles-based ethics.
Ethics Speakers and Series
Hosted by Leeds School of Business and partners to welcome thought-leaders from business and academics for discussions on ethical leadership. These inspirational lectures hve featured a renowned ground-breaking investigative journalist, leaders from private industry including the telecom and finance sectors, and a leader in ethics and compliance from higher education.
