Andrea Larson Joins ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder Ombuds Office

Andrea Larson has joined the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder Ombuds Office as a half-time associate ombudsperson, Director Tom Sebok announced. Mary Chavez, the current associate ombudsperson, has reduced her appointment to half time in order to spend more time with her daughter and work on her doctoral dissertation. Larson also will continue to serve as counselor-in-residence in the Williams Village residence halls, a joint program sponsored by the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder Housing Department and Counseling and Psychological Services: A Multicultural Center.

Fiske Planetarium Examines Distant Planets, Stars On Nov. 10

For centuries people have attempted to prove the existence of planets circling distant stars, but on Friday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. the Fiske Planetarium at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder will explore the topic more closely than ever before. "Searching For Distant Worlds," a prerecorded program at Fiske Planetarium, will explain recent discoveries of unknown of planets in newfound solar systems. Tickets go on sale at 7 p.m. the night of the show with prices ranging from $4 for adults and $3 for seniors age 65 and over and children, 12 and under.

ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-BOULDER STUDENT TREATED FOR MENINGITIS; CAMPUS INITIATES PUBLIC HEALTH RESPONSE

An 18-year-old student at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder was diagnosed Friday with meningococcal meningitis. A freshman at Stearns-West Residence Hall at Williams Village on the Boulder campus, he is in Boulder Community Hospital in stable condition. University and Boulder County Health Department officials are investigating the single case and report that no other cases of the disease have been identified. State health authorities also were notified.

Professor To Speak On ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder's Role In Uncovering Anasazi History

Memorial Service For Terry Bodhaine To Be Held Nov. 7 At ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder

A memorial service for Terri Bodhaine, director of Disability Services at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder, will be held on Nov. 7 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Old Main Chapel. Bodhaine died of cancer on Sept. 24th at Hospice of Boulder County in Louisville. She was 53.

Oct. 30 Student Music Recital At The Academy Is Cancelled

The Oct. 30 music recital at The Academy has been cancelled. University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder music students will continue to present free recitals every Monday evening from Nov. 6 through Dec. 4 at The Academy, 970 Aurora Ave. in Boulder. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel and are free and open to the public. The recital series is sponsored by the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder Office of Community Affairs and the College of Music.

Umoja Gospel Extravaganza To Be Held At ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder Nov. 12

The 10th Annual Umoja Gospel Extravaganza will be held Nov. 12 at 4 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder. Various choirs throughout the Boulder and Denver metro area are scheduled to participate. It is free and open to the public. The event is organized by students in ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder's Umoja Voices Gospel Choir, with the assistance of DeLaris Carpenter of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥'s Cultural Unity Center.

Open Forums Set Nov. 7 And Nov. 13 On Proposed ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder Honor Code

Two open forums on the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder's newest referendum, the honor code, will be presented Nov. 7 and Nov. 13 by the students who are proposing it. The forums will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Recreation Center conference rooms 1-2, and on Monday, Nov. 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Recreation Center conference rooms 3-4.

Search Committee Named For Dean Of College Of Engineering And Applied Science

A search committee has been named to seek a replacement for Ross B. Corotis, dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder. Corotis resigned effective at the end of the current academic year, July 31, 2001. He will continue his teaching, research and scholarly work as the engineering college's Denver Business Challenge Professor beginning next academic year.
