If you plan to use animals in your research, you will need to involve ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥Â Boulder’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IAÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥C). The primary function of the IAÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥C is to ensure ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder's compliance with all state and federal regulations surrounding the humane care and use of animals in research and teaching.

Sponsors do not normally request IAÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥C approval at time of proposal submission, but Prinicpal Investigators (PIs) should consult with IAÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥C and request approvals in a timely manner. Keep in mind that NIH requires IAÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥C approval at the just in time (JIT) stage, and, if awarded, a project SpeedType will not be setup until approval has been obtained.

If you are unsure whether or not your project requires IAÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥C review, visit the IAÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥C website. If you are a new researcher or need more guidance on animal research, see IAÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥C’s Getting Started page.
