ENVD's DissentxDesign is looking for RAs that have an interest in addressing injustices in our built environment.

  • RAs will conduct walking-interviews with members of the campus community to discuss experiences around race, racism, whiteness, and the designed environment.
  • RAs will organize and analyze data (including sketches, photos, maps, interview notes, reflections) from these walking interviews.
  • RAs will work with Prof. Shawhin Roudbari train in these research methods that lie at the intersection of architecture and sociology
  • RAs will have the opportunity to participate in exhibitions or publications based on this research (e.g. see current photo exhibit based on this project at Norlin Library).

Ìý¶Ù±ð³Ù²¹¾±±ô²õ

  • Study/interest in ethnic studies, sociology, women and gender studies, or cultural geography would be a plus, but not required.
  • RAs will be expected to work effectively with deadlines and maintain reliable communication.
  • The work requires 5 to 10 hours of work/week, between spring and summer 2024, with the possibility of extending work in the future.
  • Pay is $22/hr (or 3-credit indep. study course)
  • Submit: (1) resume; (2) names and contacts of two references (at least one being a faculty member); and (3) a 300 to 500-word statement of interest in this topic and this kind of work.
