Law Professor Robert Nagel Named Director Of Byron White Center

The University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ School of Law has named a nationally recognized constitutional law specialist to head its center for constitutional study. Professor Robert F. Nagel will be the new director of the law schoolÂ’s Byron White Center for the Study of Constitutional Law. "The White Center is a major educational resource for our students and for the community, "said Nagel. "The possibilities are exciting; I am happy to be involved."

ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder Study Abroad Hosts Peer Advising Fair At UMC Sept. 15

The University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder will hold its annual Study Abroad Peer Advising Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Glenn Miller Ballroom in the University Memorial Center. The fair is free and open to all ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder undergraduate students.

ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder Study Abroad Program Sends Students Overseas On Scholarships

The Study Abroad Program at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder has awarded more than $94,000 in scholarships and 71 exchange positions to 204 students enrolled in study abroad programs this summer, fall or academic year. The aid comes from the program's auxiliary accounts, alumni donations, the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Commission on Higher Education Diversity Fund and foundation donations. Exchange positions are not monetary awards but a reduction in study abroad program fees worth several thousands of dollars thanks to agreements with certain foreign universities.

ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder Awards Thirteen Students Diversity Scholarships To Study Abroad

Several undergraduate study abroad students at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder have received scholarships to study in other countries this summer, fall and academic year. Two diversity scholarships, one awarded by ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder and the other by the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Commission on Higher Education, help cover expenses in the Study Abroad program for ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ residents who are underrepresented on the Boulder campus because they are ethnic minorities or from the state's rural areas.

1999 Safety Measures At ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder Improve On Existing Programs

Following is an update of campus safety information for the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder. While this fact sheet doesnÂ’t list every safety measure found on campus, it does provide information about some of the most visible. EMERGENCY CALL BOXES * Nineteen call boxes were installed in 1998-99 at a cost of $300,000, with the final one installed at the corner of 13th and Pennsylvania streets in July 1999. Twelve call boxes were in place previously, bringing the total to 31 emergency call boxes on the main ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder campus.

Two ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder faculty members are finalists for the 8th annual ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Book Awards. Law professor and murder mystery novelist Marianne Wesson is a finalist in the Adult Fiction category for her book, "Render Up the Body." "IÂ’m delighted, of course, especially because it is possible to read ‘Render Up The BodyÂ’ as nothing more than a work of genre fiction," said Wesson. "But I hoped the book would find readers looking not just for a mystery, but also something more. This recognition is very meaningful to me, and very satisfying."

The ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder Career Services office, in conjunction with the colleges of Business and Engineering, will hold a Career Fair for all ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder students on Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Coors Events/Conference Center. The fair is open to ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ students only and not to non-student job seekers. The Career Fair will give business representatives an opportunity to provide ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ students with literature regarding their companies. Students are encouraged to meet with company representatives and learn about the interviewing process.

Fact Sheet: Chancellor's Committee On Women At UC Boulder

The ChancellorÂ’s Committee on Women at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder has just released its second annual report. That 16-member committee, a representative group of faculty, staff and students, prepared a report that provides baseline data and recommendations concerning the current status of women on campus. The report formally documents the status of women at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder, analyzes quantitative and qualitative data by gender and ethnicity, and notes trends regarding equity and diversity over the past 10 years.
