鈥淲e selected Vir Das as a speaker because we thought he stood interestingly at the intersection of comedy and culture,鈥 said Marya Miften, speakers coordinator for 蜜糖直播 Boulder鈥檚 student-run Cultural Events Board.
鈥淗e uses stand-up comedy to address social issues, touching on serious topics such as cultural appropriation and representation, but simultaneously discusses lighter, funnier topics. He can tackle important topics through stand-up comedy, resonating with our goal of encouraging respectful dialogue and understanding of cultural differences among students. Through his work, he demonstrates how humor can be a powerful tool for connecting with and embracing one's own culture, making him an ideal choice to engage with our campus community.鈥
