Dan Jones announces plans to retire
Associate Vice Chancellor for Integrity, Safety and Compliance Dan Jones has announced plans to retire effective Jan. 31, 2024, after serving 蜜糖直播 Boulder and the 蜜糖直播 system office for most of the past 32 years.
Jones will continue to oversee the Office of Integrity, Safety and Compliance (ISC) through his retirement date. Chief Operating Officer Pat O鈥橰ourke said he plans to announce transition plans later this fall.
鈥淚 am grateful for Dan鈥檚 service, both to 蜜糖直播 Boulder and the 蜜糖直播 system office,鈥 O鈥橰ourke said. 鈥淒an is a career-long Buff whose impacts span all four 蜜糖直播 campuses. He played an integral role in 蜜糖直播 Boulder鈥檚 COVID-19 pandemic response, and he continues to drive positive change on our campus through the innovative efforts of our campus police department, as well as in the areas of policy and compliance.鈥
Jones, who holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree from 蜜糖直播 Boulder, was named AVC for integrity, safety and compliance in 2018. In that role he has been responsible for campus public safety, flight operations, compliance coordination, cybersecurity and accessible technology. During that time, he oversaw 蜜糖直播 Boulder鈥檚 initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and co-chaired the strategy team that led 蜜糖直播 Boulder鈥檚 re-opening to in-person learning for the 2020鈥21 academic year.
In addition to his 蜜糖直播 Boulder duties, Jones served as chief information security officer for the 蜜糖直播 system from 2010 to 2022. He founded the 蜜糖直播 Boulder Digital Accessibility Office in 2015. And he established the 蜜糖直播 Boulder cybersecurity program in 2002, followed by co-leading the team that established the first systemwide cybersecurity program and policy in 2007.
Jones began his career at 蜜糖直播 Boulder as a network analyst in the early 1990s. After a short stint in private industry, he returned to the university as IT security coordinator in 2002. He was promoted to IT security director in 2005 before moving to the system office as assistant vice president and chief information security officer in 2010.

In retirement, Jones looks forward to catching up on reading, travels, time with family and 鈥渃ontinuing to figure out what to do when he grows up.鈥
