Chancellor Philip DiStefano and the university executive leadership are setting the course for a new academic year with an Aug. 11 event on Farrand Field for faculty, staff and graduate students. The Buffs Back Together recognition event from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. is designed, as DiStefano put it, 鈥渢o kick off the academic year by reengaging and sharing food, drink and each other鈥檚 company.鈥澨�

The event will feature a catered lunch, a DJ听and fun activities ranging from lawn games to chair massages and therapy dogs. Those planning to attend the lunch are asked to . Supervisors are encouraged to support participation.

鈥淲e鈥檝e been through incredible challenges during the pandemic,鈥� said Provost Russell Moore. 鈥淐elebrating one another in person and on campus reminds us that our mission is, first and foremost, a human endeavor. I look forward to seeing everyone at this event.鈥澨�

Chief Operating Officer Patrick O鈥橰ourke said bringing faculty, staff and graduate students together in a single celebration is deliberate.听

鈥淭he university succeeds when we all work together,鈥� he said. 鈥淏ut during the pandemic, we saw this partnership between the administration, faculty and staff rise to new levels through heroic efforts and shared sacrifice. We want to thank everyone for their contributions and celebrate that spirit as the new academic year begins.鈥�

All registrants are eligible for prize drawings during the event (winners need not be present). In consideration of personal comfort levels at in-person events, this event is voluntary.

Complimentary parking will be available in Lots 306 and 308, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Space is limited.
