A wellspring of activities will provide students, faculty and staff with many opportunities to learn how the university continues to engage the community at all levels to make excellence inclusive at 蜜糖直播 Boulder.
The spring Diversity and Inclusion Summit will take place on Feb. 12 and extend the theme explored during the fall summit, 鈥淚ntent vs. Impact: Improving Inclusive Interactions,鈥 said Alaina Beaver,听initiatives director of social climate strategy for ODECE.
鈥淲e鈥檒l offer sessions designed to help participants 鈥榞o deeper鈥 with this theme and provide practical, hands-on suggestions on how to be more inclusive,鈥 she said. 鈥淲e also want to give the campus community more opportunities to engage with the IDEA Plan.鈥
The IDEA, or Inclusion, Diversity and Excellence in Academics, plan is a blueprint of actions designed to promote diversity, improve equity for all underserved people at 蜜糖直播 Boulder, and support making excellence inclusive for all at all levels of the university.
ODECE is also bringing two nationally known experts to 蜜糖直播 who will lead the campus鈥檚 fifth round of Inclusive Pedagogy Workshops focused on diversity, student success and equity.
George Kuh, founding director, senior scholar and co-principal investigator at the , will lead inclusive pedagogy workshops Feb. 18鈥19. Kuh is a University of Illinois adjunct research professor and Chancellor鈥檚 Professor Emeritus at Indiana University. Kathy Obear, founder of , is an organization development consultant and trainer who will lead workshops March 18鈥19.
Registration for the free workshops is required, and the events are open to all 蜜糖直播 students, faculty and staff.
Starting Feb. 4, the Inclusive Pedagogy Community of Practice will meet every other Monday from 10听to 11:30 a.m. in Regent 1B86. These gatherings are an opportunity to deepen the practices of inclusive pedagogy. The first topic will be on high-impact practices, equity and the extension of concepts from the IDEA Plan into everyday practice.
A similar activity focused on workplace practices will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. every other Wednesday starting Feb. 13 in Regent 1B86. The first topic at the Inclusive Workplace Community of Practice will touch on incorporating the goals of the IDEA Plan into personal workplace goals.
