Today, we all learned that the White House has decided to rescind and phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy. In response, I joined University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ President Bruce Benson and my fellow ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ chancellors in a statement to reiterate our support for this invaluable program.

, we renewed our commitment to reach out to ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s congressional delegation to urge them to take action over the next six months that would allow those in the DACA program to continue to study and work at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ without fear of deportation or other legal repercussions.
The American Association of Universities also and called on all member universities to sign a letter of support.Ìý I signed this letter of support on behalf of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder as well.
We stand with our DACA students and employees, and will continue to communicate with them as we learn more about how this decision will impact our university. In addition, we are committed to providing necessary resources to support DACA beneficiaries.

Until we learn more about the intermediate and lasting impacts of today’s decision by the White House, I want to make it clear that now more than ever the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder community will continue to stand with our DACA students and employees.
