Tune in for the opportunity to be inspired and amused by the work of talented youngsters determined to change the world.
This summer, the at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder invitedÌý80 middle and high school students to participate in the program,Ìýan immersive, science-education experience focusedÌýon getting students from mostly first-generation college bound families to think harder about the effects of climate change on their everyday lives.
"We want to get students excited about jobs in the field of science and technology," says Anne Gold, an educational specialist at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥.Ìý
LOCC consists of three weeklong camps where students have the opportunity to investigate specific topics related to climate change and work together to create a concept map and script for short film, under the advisement of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder science mentors.
The first and final camps will be held at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ BoulderÌýwithÌýfilm screenings on Friday, June 23, at the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Auditorium and Saturday, July 22, at the ATLAS Center.ÌýAnd in hopes of reaching more rural students,ÌýLOCC will hold theÌýsecond campÌýin Salida, ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥, with a film screening Saturday,ÌýJuly 15.Ìý
