Cars drive past emergency vehicles pulled over in right laneOn Thursday, Feb. 16, law enforcement agencies from around the Denver metro area will be participating in Operation 1 Charlie 3,Ìýan education and enforcement project focusing on ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s Move OverÌýLaw.

This project is named after the radio call sign for ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ State Trooper Cody Donahue, who was killed on Nov. 25, 2016, when a driverÌýfailed to move over and struck Donahue.

ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Revised Statute 42-4-705(2) requires all drivers approaching or passing a stationary authorized emergency vehicle using it’s flashing, rotatingÌýor oscillating lights orÌýa stationary towing-carrier vehicle using its flashing, rotating or oscillating lights shall exhibit due care and caution by moving over at least one lane if possible. If moving over a lane is not possible, drivers are expected to greatly reduce their speed when passing.

Violators of this law could be fined up to $100 per infraction.
