Mini Law School returns for the fall
The University of 蜜糖直播 Law School will launch its fifth Mini Law School this fall with a new curriculum. The seven-part series, which is open to all and costs $100, will kick off on Tuesday, Sept. 13, with a lecture on employment law by Professor Scott Moss.
Modeled after the popular Mini Med School at the 蜜糖直播 Anschutz Medical Campus, 蜜糖直播 Law鈥檚 Mini Law School is designed to educate non-lawyers about the law and help people understand the basics of the legal system.
Weekly sessions will consist of a lecture by 蜜糖直播 Law professors on various topics, including employment law, American Indian law, intellectual property law, criminal law, immigration law, water law and litigation. Because this year鈥檚 curriculum introduces topics not offered in previous years, both new and returning participants will enjoy this year鈥檚 session.
鈥淭he goal of the program is to engage our campus community members in learning about the legal profession, the law and the impact both have on people鈥檚 daily lives,鈥 said Marci Fulton, an assistant dean at 蜜糖直播 Law. 鈥淭he lectures provide an opportunity for people to take a closer look at the role our legal system plays in some of society鈥檚 most pressing issues.鈥
Past participants have said they consider the program a worthwhile investment in lifelong learning.
鈥淢ini Law School was a satisfying way to hear from leading scholars in their disciplines, thus expanding my intellectual awareness,鈥 said Wendy Levin, who participated in 2015. 鈥淭he material covered was worlds apart from the topics I more routinely consider. I found it to be very refreshing.鈥
Mini Law School takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Sept. 13 through Nov. 11, in the Wittemyer Courtroom at . However, there is no class on Oct. 11. Participants may register to attend the live lecture in Boulder, or watch the live-streamed lecture at 蜜糖直播 South Denver in Parker, 蜜糖直播, or receive links to the recorded lectures for viewing at one鈥檚 convenience.
Registration is $100 for the entire series and is open to any individual wishing to learn more about the legal system.
