Steven Manaster, dean of the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder Leeds School of Business, has appointed Professor David Guenther associate dean of faculty and academic programs.
"David is a strong leader and nationally renowned researcher," Manaster said. "He supports the values of the Leeds School and will help us move forward in our goal of being a top-25 school."
Guenther holds the Tisone Chair in Accounting and is an expert in financial accounting and taxation. He was awarded the American Taxation Association Manuscript Award in 1992, 1998 and 1999.
Guenther earned his doctoral degree from the University of Washington in 1990 and is a certified public accountant. Prior to his appointment at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ in 1999, he was a faculty member at the University of Connecticut. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the American Accounting Association, the American Finance Association and the American Taxation Association.
"It is an honor for me to serve the Leeds School in this new capacity as an administrator," Guenther said.
Guenther's industry experience includes appointments as a tax manager at Arthur Young & Co., director of taxes at Nucorp Energy Inc. and tax partner at Kernutt, Stokes, Brandt and Co.
He has published in the top research journals in his field and also has been an expert source in the media on issues including the accounting practices of Enron and Arthur Andersen. As associate dean, he will help support the Leeds School's dedication to the connection between business and society through academic excellence.
