The ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Parents Association will present eight faculty and staff members at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder with the Marinus G. Smith Recognition Award at a ceremony on April 6 at 11 a.m. at the University Club Lounge.

The purpose of the award is to identify and recognize ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder faculty, instructors and staff who have made a significant impact on the lives of one or more ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder undergraduates.

The 2002 recipients are: Patricia Bruck, film studies instructor; Dennis Eckart, associate professor, political science department; Tara Friedman, ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Foundation Parent Fund coordinator; Patrick Gillham, graduate part-time instructor, sociology department; Nicole Kenneally, ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ women's tennis coach; Linda Kerr-Saville, former program assistant for the Sewall Hall residential academic program now in the anthropology department; Dennis Mileti, professor and chair of the sociology department; and Lori Seward, instructor at the Leeds School of Business.

The award, now in its second year, is named for Marinus G. Smith, a ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ pioneer who made significant financial and land donations to the university to locate in Boulder at the base of the Flatirons.

According to Peter Simons, director of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder's Office of Parent Relations, students were asked to nominate candidates who were deserving of this recognition during Parents Weekend last fall.
