University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder Provost Phil DiStefano has appointed a search committee to develop candidates for the position of dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science.
The committee, chaired by Dean of Libraries James Williams, is composed of faculty, staff, students and community representatives.
A national search, including both internal and external candidates, will commence immediately with the goal of hiring a new dean for the college by September 2002. Roop L. Mahajan, professor of mechanical engineering, is serving as interim dean for the 2001-2002 academic year.
The committee will look for candidates with strong academic credentials, administrative and fund-raising capabilities, leadership and interpersonal skills, a commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service; and a commitment to diversity.
Members of the search committee are: Professors Kristi Anseth, chemical engineering; Frank Barnes, electrical and computer engineering; John Bennett, computer science; Charbel Farhat, chair of aerospace engineering; Carlos Felippa, aerospace engineering; Y.C. Lee, mechanical engineering; Stein Sture, civil, environmental and architectural engineering; and Marcia Elwood, budget director; David Begley, vice president of Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp.; Peter Mannetti, managing partner, iSherpa Capital, LLC; graduate student Susan Bogus and undergraduate student David Speidel.
Garnett Tatum, director of the Office of Equal Opportunity, will be an ex-officio member; Robbie Cave will provide staff support, and Bernadette Langbein will serve as staff liaison.
