The University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder has decided to return to internal management of the University Club and the College Inn, Ron Stump, vice chancellor for student affairs, announced today.
Stump has appointed Richard Hennessey, a dining service employee with extensive experience in hospitality services management, to serve as interim manager of the two facilities.
"Dick Hennessey has substantial experience in the management of similar operations, and will provide excellent leadership," Stump said.
University administrators made the decision to return management of the facilities back to university control following an evaluation of the facilities.
"Both the University Club and the College Inn are very important to our university functions and activities, and we decided it was an ideal time to make this change," Stump said.
Compass Group USA, a North Carolina-based company, has managed the College Inn Conference Center since February 1996. The current purchase order for the services provided by Compass is ending. Because management of the facilities is returning to the university, no new Request for Proposals (RFP), for bidding purposes, will be issued at this time.
Earlier allegations that Compass Group hired undocumented workers were not substantiated. During the transition, Compass employees will continue in their positions.
Opportunities for the Compass employees to continue working at the University Club and the College Inn will be discussed with them, Stump said.
