Barbara Kulton has been named associate director of the Women's Resource Center at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder. Activities planned by the center for the beginning of fall semester will be Kulton's first chance to interact with students in her new role.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to have Barbara on board," said Gina Rosabal, director of the center. "She's a highly skilled individual in a number of areas that will really balance what we already have at the center. I think she is the perfect addition to our staff."
One of the activities Kulton will be involved in is an open house for the center on Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon in University Memorial Center room 412. This event will be an opportunity for people to see what the center has to offer and to meet the staff over refreshments.
The open house will be followed by various events throughout September including the Lavender Lunch Hour for lesbian, bisexual and transgender women, the Kitchen Table for women of color and multiracial women, and a gathering of White Women Aligned Against Racism.
Kulton graduated from ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder with a master's degree in guidance and counseling. She has spent the last 12 years working as an organizational consultant focused on community and organizational planning and development.
"As associate director of the Women's Resource Center, I will be responsible for serving as a resource and advocate for gender equity and diversity on campus as well as supervising and supporting the efforts of student leaders in their activities," Kulton said.
The Women's Resource Center is a university service working for women's equity on campus. The center offers a variety of services for women and men in addition to referrals to campus and community resources. It is a place to connect with student groups, university services and people interested in and committed to women's issues.
