Five University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder students were awarded Center for Education and Career Transition Scholarships for the spring 2001 semester.
The scholarships are given in three categories: undergraduate women, graduate women, and students over 30 years of age. Students who receive the undergraduate and graduate awards must maintain a 3.5 grade point average. Applicants for the over 30 award must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
Tawnya Laveta is the winner of the graduate award and received a $600 scholarship. Laveta has maintained a 3.9 grade point average while working toward her masterÂ’s degree in elementary education. She expects to graduate in May 2001 and plans to become an elementary schoolteacher.
Two students, Seungwon Seo and Jacqueline Wade, received the over 30 award. Seo, a graduate student studying economics, was awarded $600. He plans to become a professor. Wade also was awarded a $600 scholarship. She is a graduate student in the School of Education and has a 3.85 grade point average. Wade is studying social, multicultural and bilingual education and plans a career as an early childhood professional.
The winners of the undergraduate award are Sara Greenberg and Alexis Scott. Greenberg is a womenÂ’s studies major and received a $600 scholarship. She has maintained a 4.0 grade point average and expects to graduate this spring. She plans a career as a psychotherapist. Scott was awarded a $300 scholarship. She has maintained a 3.98 grade point average while studying for a combined bachelorÂ’s and masterÂ’s degree in environmental, population and organismic biology. She plans a career as an applied conservation biologist.
The scholarships are awarded based on the applicantÂ’s biographical statement, grade point average and academic financial needs. In addition, all applicants must have completed 12 credit hours of coursework on the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder campus and be full-time students during the semester in which they are awarded the scholarship.
Applications for the Center for Education and Career Transition Scholarships for fall 2001 are available at Counseling Services in room 134 of the Willard Administrative Center.
