Gerd Leonhard, founder of LicenseMusic.com, will speak at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder Feb. 1 about e-commerce and the music industry.

His talk will be held in the College of Business, room 224, at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Leonhard founded LicenseMusic.com in 1997, the first service for licensing music to film and TV productions over the Internet. The site provides music for web sites, films, video and TV. The company has thousands of film and TV customers and has been featured on National Public Radio and in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes and other publications.

The LicenseMusic.com collection contains more than 50,000 on-line tracks with access to one million tracks through its network of providers. It is the only company on the market that has a fully automated music licensing and pricing engine specifically for the audio-visual production industries. The site represents the catalogs of more than 175 record labels and music publishers.

LeonhardÂ’s visit is sponsored by the entrepreneurship programs at the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ colleges of music, business, engineering and law.

Prior to establishing LicenseMusic.com, Leonhard founded Music Workz, a music business production and marketing consulting firm. While at Music Workz, he partnered with several industry leaders, including MTV and VH1.

Leonhard graduated magna cum laude from BostonÂ’s Berklee College of Music, where he received a full scholarship as the recipient of the Quincy Jones Award.
