ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥Â’s most comprehensive conference on the stateÂ’s tourism industry will reveal results of a new study on mountain tourism, the latest trends in the family vacation market and how well the state tourism advertising agency did in its 2000 summer campaign.
The 2000 ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Tourism Conference, titled "ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Tourism in the New Millennium," will meet Oct. 18-20 at the Doubletree Hotel, 3203 Quebec St., in Denver. Conference registration is $150 through Sept. 26 and $180 after Sept. 26 by calling Terry Rosen at (303) 492-8227.
Other conference highlights include a roundtable discussion with ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Tourism Office board members and staff, and the stateÂ’s plans for its 2001 advertising efforts. Presentations include discussion of the upcoming official state vacation guide and the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Web site, . The conference also will feature an assortment of industry-related exhibitors, as well as sessions on heritage tourism and how to keep tourists returning to tourist sites.
The conference is an annual event that allows people in the travel and tourism industry to meet, share ideas and engage in dialogue with industry leaders. It is designed for owners, managers and representatives of hotels, motels and bed and breakfast inns; destination marketing organizations; advertising/public relations firms; recreation industry-related organizations; the hospitality industry; museum/attraction managers; event organizers; convention sales; arts organizations; and sports marketing organizations.
The conference is organized by the Center for Sustainable Tourism, based at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder College of Business, with assistance from the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Tourism Office.
The center is the College of BusinessÂ’s management unit for research and community service in tourism. It provides a forum for the assessment of economic, social, cultural and environmental implications of the tourism industry as well as for designing, facilitating and planning intelligent and orderly tourism growth.
