A memorial service for Salvador Rodriguez del Pino, former professor of ethnic studies and Chicano studies at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, in Old Main Chapel.

Immediately following the service, a remembrance potluck will be held at Koenig Alumni Center. Participants are asked to bring a main dish to serve six to eight people and a salad or dessert. Cooking facilities are not available. Beverages and utensils will be provided.

Parking is limited at the center. City meters are available on University Avenue and the access gate between Macky Auditorium and Sewall Hall will open at 1 p.m. for additional free parking at meters and lot 380.

Rodriguez del Pino, 66, died Aug. 7 in Guadalajara, Mexico. He was a dual citizen of Mexico and the United States.

He is survived by his partner, John Ellis, a brother and numerous friends and colleagues.

The department of ethnic studies is establishing a memorial scholarship fund in his honor.

The memorial service is sponsored by the department of ethnic studies, ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Denver's Latino/a Research and Policy Center, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Equity and the department of Spanish and Portuguese.
