ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥Â’s smart growth initiatives and their impact on the real estate industry will be discussed at the 2000 ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Real Estate Council Annual Conference, "Dollars and Sense: Where Capital Markets Meet Smart Growth" on Friday, Feb. 25.
The all-day event, hosted by the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Real Estate Center and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, will be held at the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Convention Center in Denver.
The conference will bring ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥Â’s top real estate professionals together to address the dynamic face of the industry. As ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ responds to ever-increasing growth issues, land management remains at the forefront of public debate.
Keynote speaker William Sanders, founder of LaSalle Partners Limited and chairman of Security Capital Group, and other nationally acclaimed real estate professionals will discuss capital markets in the morning session. Security Capital Group is one of the nationÂ’s largest REITs.
Speakers addressing the "Global Financial Market Update and the Evolving Financial Industry" include Owen Thomas, managing director of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter; Larry Chapman, executive vice president of Wells Fargo Real Estate Group; David Blackford, executive vice president of California Bank and Trust; and Dennis Barrett, vice chairman of the board of FirstBank.
Tom Marsico, CEO of Marsico Capital and Rick Pederson, managing director of Liberty Greenfield will discuss "The Stock Market and the Real Estate Industry – One Year Later."
The afternoon sessionÂ’s focus on smart growth will highlight Bob Rhodes, senior vice president of St. Joe Co. in Tallahassee, who will discuss FloridaÂ’s successes and challenges in land management. The ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Real Estate Council and ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ MBA students also will present on growth management.
