More than 4,000 parents and families of University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder students are expected to converge on campus for the annual Fall Parents Weekend Oct. 8-10. The event draws parents from across ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥, from nearly every state and several foreign countries.
"The weekend is an opportunity for parents to learn more about the university, visit with their student and see the Boulder campus in beautiful fall colors," said Terry Hilkemeier, chair of the event and a member of the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder Parents Association Board of Directors.
Events begin early Friday morning and continue until Sunday afternoon. Activities include a golf tournament, tours of the Engineering Center and ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Heritage Center and a 5K run/walk to benefit the American Heart Association. A main attraction is the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ vs. Missouri football game on Saturday.
Parents can learn more about career development and study abroad options for their students and can attend lectures by noted professors and staff on topics such as Islam and the West, the Information Age and the global economy, and efforts at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder and nationally to reduce student alcohol abuse.
Parents also can attend campus performances of the play, "Equus," visit the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Art Galleries and ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Museum of Natural History, and attend a concert by the Jazz Ensemble.
Throughout the weekend, the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Parents Association Board of Directors will be selling raffle tickets for prizes, including one $2,000 tuition credit and three $1,000 tuition credits.
As in years past, this event will provide an excellent opportunity for parents to visit their son or daughter, meet other ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder families, and familiarize themselves with the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder campus by taking part in many fun and informative activities and classes.
