A look at the future of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥'s tourism industry and an analysis of the state's economic dependence on tourism will be among the topics discussed at the 1998 ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Travel and Tourism Conference, Oct. 29 and 30.

The conference, which will be held in the University Memorial Center on the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder campus, is sponsored by the Center for Sustainable Tourism, a research and service center in the College of Business and Administration, and the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Travel and Tourism Authority.

The conference kicks off Thursday evening, Oct. 29, with a social at the University Club at 5:30 p.m. Rod Barker, chairman of the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Tourism Board, and Rick Wilder, executive director of the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Travel and Tourism Authority, will discuss the future of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥'s tourism industry. An awards presentation will follow.

Friday's program runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include presentations on tourism development and sustainability, website technology, media development, database marketing and heritage tourism.
