Grand Junction will host an exhibit of early Southwestern weaving as part of the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at Boulder.
The exhibit, “Beyond the Loom: Keys to Understanding Early Southwestern Textiles,” will be shown from May 24 through Sept. 1 at the Museum of Western ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥, the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ This Summer local sponsor.
The large color photographs in the exhibit are accompanied by text and graphics showing the early history and methods of weaving by native people of the Southwest.
The exhibit hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Museum of Western ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at 248 S. Fourth St. Admission is $2 for adults, $1.50 for seniors, $1 for children and free to members.
More than 300,000 people throughout ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ have attended ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ This Summer programs over the nine years that the art, museum exhibits and music and dance performances have traveled the state.
ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ This Summer cultural events are sponsored by each community for the enrichment of residents and summer visitors. The host communities this year are Brighton, Burlington, Cortez, Durango, Estes Park, La Junta, Lamar, Montrose and Pueblo, as well as Grand Junction.
ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ This Summer sponsorship is shared by the host communities and the Boulder Campus Outreach Council, the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Office of Business and Community Relations, the department of theater and dance, the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Art Galleries, the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Museum and the College of Music with support from the Office of Public Relations.
