Recreation Injury Care Center

 

The RICC is open!

Fall semester hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 2-7 p.m.
  • Friday: 2-6 p.m.

The Recreation Injury Care Center (RICC) is open to members and guest pass users at the Rec Center. RICC is staffed by two certified athletic trainers and student interns who are trained in first aid and injury care.

What we do

The RICC offers free services to Recreation Services patrons and guests including but not limited to:

  • Evaluation and referral of injuries
  • First aid and emergency care
  • Therapeutic modalities
  • Baseline concussion testing (for Sport Club athletes)
  • Prevention of athletic injuries
  • Professional referrals
  • Performance and recovery strategies
  • Taping (patrons must provide tape)
  • Stretching techniques

Where to go if you are hurt

Most insurers define a medical emergency as a sudden, unexpected injury or illness that poses an immediate threat to life, limb or body function.

Local Hospitals

Urgent care centers usually cost less than emergency room visits and have shorter wait times. Many insurers will not cover ER visits if the situation is not an emergency.

Medical Services

Medical Services at Wardenburg Health Center has sports medicine physicians who specialize in acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries that offer non-operative orthopedic and concussion care. Physical therapists at Medical Services are also able to treat overuse syndromes, postural imbalances, trauma and athletic injuries. Same-day x-rays are available and providers work closely with local and in-house surgical specialists. 

The ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Sports Medicine and Performance Center, located here on campus, provides sports medicine services, physical therapy, sports performance, MRIs/X-Rays and women's health services.
