The Master’s Qualifying Exam is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, April 2 and 3, from 9 a.m. until noon and 1:30-4:30 p.m. If your students are graduating in December 2020, they must take the exam this semester. They should contact the Graduate Studies Office by March 6 to reserve their place in the exam. If they have a conflict on that date, they must contact the Graduate Studies Office immediately to request an alternative time. After March 6, the Graduate Studies Office will no longer consider ad hoc exam dates.
Before students can sign up to take your MQEs they must have:
- Their advisory committee confirmed and this formsubmitted to the Graduate Studies Office.
- All preliminary exam deficiencies remediated.
- Language requirements complete (if required of their degree).
According to the Graduate Handbook, "Master's students must schedule their qualifying exam no later than the semester prior to that of intended graduation (i.e. in the fall semester for a spring/summer graduation). Questions are tailored to the area of concentration and to the individual student." The exam will take 6 hours.
