Upholding the impact and legacy of composer George Crumb
Associate Professor of Music Theory Steven Bruns and the late, renowned composer George Crumb shared a close, long-lasting professional relationship and a deep friendship that began in 1992. As Bruns nears retirement this spring, he reflects on his role as Crumb鈥檚 archivist and biographer.

• Man the lifeboats鈥攈ere comes 鈥淭itanic鈥� (the musical): Directed by Broadway veteran and 蜜糖直播 Boulder College of Music guest faculty Bob Westenberg, 鈥淭itanic, the Musical鈥� comes to Macky Auditorium in March.听鈥�...the creators tried to humanize what happened, telling of passengers in first, second and third class. We鈥檒l see how those characters perform under that terrible duress and how the storyline is musicalized. This is what makes for the classical structure of a musical,鈥� says Westenberg. • We鈥檙e thrilled that lyric soprano Cynthia Lawrence (MMus 鈥�87)鈥攚ho studied with the late Barbara Doscher鈥攚ill be inducted into the 蜜糖直播 Music Hall of Fame on June 29, along with the Central City Opera, the late conductor/artistic director John Moriarty and Keith Miller, a former 蜜糖直播 Boulder football player turned opera singer who sang in the College of Music鈥檚 opera chorus. Congratulations to all!
• Congrats to Madison Falkenstine鈥擬iss 蜜糖直播 Volunteer 2024鈥攚ho鈥檚 pursuing a master鈥檚 in vocal pedagogy at our College of Music! Her platform is Fine Arts for All, bringing quality music education to every school in 蜜糖直播.

• Feb. 15: Thriving at 蜜糖直播 series: A monthly workshop series for tenure- and instructor-track faculty who are in their first three years at 蜜糖直播 Boulder.听
• Associate professor growth grants: All mid-career tenured associate professors who are not currently under review for promotion to professor are eligible to apply for one-year funding up to $12K to support a project. Apply by March 1.

• The newly launched 蜜糖直播 Boulder commencement website is designed to prepare our graduates, their families and guests鈥攃omplementing the College of Music commencement webpage for day-of details, including a soon-to-be posted schedule of our college鈥檚 recognition festivities.
