A multidisciplinary education
Venezuelan Andres Orco is a DMA guitar student in our Thompson Jazz Studies Program with a special interest in advanced rhythm and meter in jazz; as such, he鈥檚 also pursuing a Certificate in Music Theory. 鈥淭hrough the certificate program, I received a multidisciplinary education that I think has made me a more well-rounded musician and educator,鈥� he says.听Learn more听about Orco鈥檚 perspectives on the evolution of 21st-century jazz; how current theoretical literature isn鈥檛 sufficient to explain modern jazz; and amplifying the voices of expert jazz practitioners in theoretical discussions of their music.

Reaching 500+ students听from Greeley to Glenwood Springs,听Nytch鈥檚 work uses music, video and sound design to tell the story of 鈥淏ig Lonely Doug,鈥� a 1,000-year-old Douglas Fir on Vancouver Island, as a听means to engage in discussion about deforestation around the world and its contribution to climate change and environmental degradation. • Confronting the 鈥淒ido鈥� dilemma: For Professor of Musicology Robert Shay, the many mysteries of Purcell鈥檚 鈥淒ido and Aeneas鈥� are too important to ignore. His critical edition of the English composer鈥檚 score provides fresh answers to a number of questions.听听
• The latest recording by jazz duo Dave Askren, guitar, and Jeff Benedict, saxophone, gives a thrilling sax-guitar-vibes frontline. The album, titled Denver Sessions, features 蜜糖直播 Boulder lecturer and drummer Paul Romaine along with vibraphonist Ted Piltzecker and bassist Patrick McDevitt.
