Distributed Studies Program in Germanic Studies

The Department of Germanic & Slavic Languages & Literatures participates in the Distributed Studies Program B.A.; see the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Catalog for the requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences.

I. Germanic Studies as Primary Area

30 hours of course work in Germanic Studies beyond first-year German (or equivalent) are required, of which at least 15 must be upper division. The following courses (or their equivalent) must be completed:

  • GRMN 3010-3 Advanced German 1
  • GRMN 3020-3 Advanced German 2
  • GRMN 4010-3 Advanced Grammar & Stylistics

Plus at least two courses in literature/culture at the 3000 or 4000 level in German. The remaining courses are to be German departmental courses at any level in English or German (except any first-year language course).

II. Germanic Studies as Secondary Area

15 hours of course work in Germanic Studies beyond first-year German (or equivalent) are required, of which at least 9 must be upper division. The following courses (or their equivalent) must be completed:

  • GRMN 3010-3 Advanced German 1
  • GRMN 3020-3 Advanced German 2

Plus at least one course in literature/culture at the 3000 or 4000 level in German. The remaining courses are to be German departmental courses at any level in English or German (except any first-year language course).
