Patriarchosis

Patriarchosis, a term coined by Ann Roy, an American feminist, artist, and activist who lived in Mexico for over forty years, is the connective thread that brings together the works in this exhibition. Roy’s term refers to the mental impacts of patriarchal culture and its attendant abuses, oppressions, and repressions. Lush: Prolific Nature

On view mid July 27, 2023–June 2024.Drawn from the museum’s collections, Lush: Prolific Nature brings together artworks that picture the natural world. Dense botanicals and landscapes--both real and imagined--speak to the ways artists in different time periods and geographies have turned to nature to envision paradise, grapple with environmental change and describe interdependencies of our ecosystems.
