Interdisciplinary Research Event Series

Since 2002, CISW has hosted an Interdisciplinary Research Event Series during each academic year that provides researchers from inside and outside of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ the opportunity to present works-in-progress to an interdisciplinary audience of interested participants, on a topic related to research on work in living systems, together with a sponsored reception.  Topics have included:

  • The Work of Humans in the Upper Paleolithic
  • How do Sleep and Work Interact?
  • Nurturing Innovation at IBM Academy of Technology
  • Assistive Technologies and Basic Life Science Research
  • Remote-Sensing Research: Integrating Across Disciplines and Levels
  • Work and Energy Constraints in Creating Representations
  • How do Organisms Respond to Competing Energetic Requirements for Information?

In addition, several Interdisciplinary Research Events together formed the foundation for a cross--disciplinary UCB conference, "Expanding Perspectives on Work and Performance."

An Interdisciplinary Research Conference, "Energy and Resource Allocation in Cellular, Neural, and Manufactured Systems," is in development.
