Center of the American West Internship Program Opportunities:

The Center of the American West Internships Program offers opportunities for ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder undergraduates (juniors and seniors) to work for public and private organizations on projects that deal with Western topics and issues, and offer professional training for the student.

These 3-credit hour internships foster students’ development as community leaders working for a sustainable West. Interns must register for the Center of the American West Internship Program course, CAMW3939. They are required to work a total of 120 hours for their employer over the semester, and must also complete academic assignments including weekly journal entries, mid-term and final reflection papers, and a final presentation.Ìý

To qualify, applicants must be current degree program students at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥-Boulder with a minimum of 60 credit hours in progress at time of application, and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Nature ConservancyÌý- Science and Conservation Intern

Work with The Nature Conservancy’s science and conservation program staff to manage a variety of projects related to land and water conservation, and with other staff in the Boulder office on special projects. There will be opportunities to learn about conservation career options from staff in various departments (science, conservation programs, policy, marketing, legal, and fundraising) and to attend special events with visiting guest speakers.Ìý

History ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ - Historical Researcher/Production Assistant

Broad Scope of Position: History ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ is seeking a detail-oriented Historical Researcher/ Production Assistant to join our documentary production team as an intern.Ìý This role combines deep and accurate historical research with some film production support. The internship will be based at the History ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Center, and will report to the America 250 - ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ 150 Program Director, while working closely with the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Department of Education’s appointee to the Commission. This is a great opportunity to work on a ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ film series by not only researching sources, but working with the Producer on developing story and script outlines, helping to fact-check scripts and maintain research integrity, and supporting producers in pre-production scheduling, planning, location scouting and on-set production assistance, as needed.

Outcomes: This internship will provide the student or recent graduate with the opportunity to develop research skills through the identification of both primary and secondary sources to support "Our Shared History" film series.

Desired Schedule: Ìý4-5 hours per day December through January 2025; 2-3 hours per day, February through May 2025

Desired Skills & Academic Field of Study: Current or recent undergraduate or master’s student with focus in History, Journalism, Film Production, or related fields.

Stipend: $4,000. The stipend is not salary or compensation. The stipend is meant to support study and research during the tenure of the appointment and will be issued upon completion of the internship.Ìý
