BizWest—VitriVax, a ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder spinout developing vaccine technology, has received a $5 million, two-year grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The grant will help the company further develop its proprietary single shot, thermostabilization vaccine technology and begin the development of pilot-scale manufacturing capacity, the company said in a press statement.

Digital Journal—Orbital Micro Systems (OMS), a ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder spinout and leader in the collection, aggregation and dissemination of commercial weather and climate data together with its partner Black Swift Technologies, has been selected for a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract to conduct expedited assessments of soil integrity for landing strips in unconventional locations.

Coloradan Alumni Magazine—According to the latest report from the Association of University Technology Managers, which assessed startup creation by universities in 2021, ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ ranked fifth nationwide, ahead of Stanford and MIT. ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder produced 20 startups that year and has spun out 179 companies to date. The pace of startup formation is surging, having nearly doubled in recent years.
