- Betty Hoover–a longtime and famed Buff superfan along with her twin sister–passed away, leaving what will surely be a palpable absence in the community and at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ athletic events. For many years, she devotedly attended countless games, Homecoming and other gatherings.
- Longtime professor Uriel Nauenberg, widely recognized for his work in high-energy physics and legendary as a teacher of undergraduate students, died on Dec. 31, 2019. He was 81.
- The university is remembering Carol B. Lynch for her academic achievement and commitment to graduate education. A memorial service will be held on Sept. 7 in Boulder.
- Professor Emeritus Phil Solomon passed away on April 20. The Department of Cinema Studies & Moving Image Arts, his lifelong academic home, is hosting a
film screening honoring his life and work. - The warm, compassionate and talented Zachary Owens, an Honors Program faculty member, passed away in July 2018. Join a campus celebration of his life on Nov. 9.
- Harrison died peacefully in his sleep on Oct. 2 after a four-month battle with pancreatic cancer. ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ will soon announce a way to honor his considerable scientific and leadership legacy.
- Longtime ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder faculty-member, politician and former University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ President John Buechner passed away Saturday.
- Former NFL standout receiver Frank Clarke, the first African American varsity football player at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ and the first to earn a letter, died Wednesday at age 84 after a lengthy illness.
- A chef de cuisine in Campus Dining Services, DePinto, who began working at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder more than 10 years ago, was known as an exemplary hard worker.
- In tribute to staff member Mike Carter, the community is invited to support the campus Tour de Cure team with donations, or join the group for the American Diabetes Association event Sept. 8.
