Advice from Dr. Mull: Slowing down over fall break

Dr. Mull headshot

Hi Buffs,

ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ has received its first official snowfall this month, and as the seasons transition, it also means we are nearing the end of the semester.

Next week is fall break—a time that offers a well-deserved opportunity to slow down before returning for final exams. I encourage you to take care and find ways to center yourself before returning for the last few weeks of classes. Know that the Division of Student Affairs is here to support you before, during and after break as we get ready to close out the semester.

Please read on for more advice and events to find support.

Take care of yourself

Whether you are traveling next week or are planning to stay in Boulder, fall break is a great time to pause, breathe and prepare for the end of the semester. I encourage you to practice self-care, stay connected to loved ones and do things that bring you joy.

If you are in Boulder over break, take advantage of spaces that will have less people around. The Rec Center will be open, offering the opportunity to stay active and try something new. You could organize a potluck with fellow Buffs or visit a favorite restaurant that may normally be busy. Find ways to treat yourself and stay connected to your support system.

For those who are traveling, I wish you a safe journey and hope you enjoy your week with your family and friends. Quality time with those close to you can help you feel refreshed and motivated to come back and finish the year strong.

Wherever you may be over break, take time for yourself. You earned it!

Highlights from October

Between cooking classes, events themed around fall and Halloween and Family Weekend, there was a lot going on in October! I was happy to spend time on campus and meet with Buffs and families last month.

After fall break and finals, and as you wrap things up for the fall semester, I also encourage you to celebrate your achievements. Whether you are in your first or final year at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder, you have worked incredibly hard and deserve a moment of recognition. Be proud of your accomplishments and do not forget to treat yourself!

Take care, Buffs, and have a great rest of the semester and wonderful winter break. See you in January!

Warmly,
Dr. D'Andra Mull
