Buffs, make time for yourself over fall break

Dr. Mull
Hi Buffs,

One of my favorite reasons I love this time of year is the opportunity to connect with an array of student and sporting events! Last week I had the chance to join our Center for Inclusion and Social Change for our National First-Generation Celebration Day. As the first in my family to go to college myself, connecting with our first-generation Buffs always means the world to me. I must also give a shout out to our Buffs women’s basketball team for beating Louisiana State University (LSU), the reigning national champions, in their season opening game. I can tell they have an exciting season ahead, as well as our men’s basketball team, and I am looking forward to cheering our student athletes on at the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Events Center this year. With colorful early evening sunsets, a chill in the air and the start of basketball season, it is definitely feeling like November in Boulder.

Next week also provides a well-deserved chance to slow down, breathe and get centered before the last bit of the semester. I encourage you to use fall break to take care of yourself. What are your needs in this moment, and how can you tend to them? What is your favorite way to relax and recharge? Whether that is catching up on sleep, spending time with your community or doing an activity that brings you joy, make it a priority to practice self-care.

If you will be in Boulder over break, take advantage of the smaller crowds. The Rec Center will be open, offering the opportunity to stay active, meet others and try something new. You could organize a potluck with fellow Buffs or visit a favorite restaurant that may normally have a waitlist. Find ways to treat yourself and stay connected to your support system.

For those who are traveling over break, I wish you a safe journey and hope you enjoy your week with your family and friends. Quality time with those close to you can help you feel refreshed and motivated to come back and finish the year strong.

Wherever you may be over fall break, take time for yourself. You earned it!

Buffs, be well and I will connect with you soon when we return to campus.

Warmly,
Dr. D’Andra Mull
