Finals advice from Buffs
Hey Buffs! It’s that time of the year again where we are wound up in essays, projects, presentations and exams. Don’t worry—you’ve got this! Use this as your guide to wind down, take a breather and de-stress, while also acing your finals!
I’ve asked a couple of my fellow Buffs what they do to prepare, manage their time and de-stress during finals week. Here’s what they said:
Ross L. (‘23)
“To de-stress I go on a walk along Boulder Creek and watch funny YouTube videos. In order to feel prepared, I will go through all of my notes, do lots of practice problems and make study guides for all of my exams. I recommend studying for the classes that you need to do your best in first, and spend the rest of your time going over other material.”
Andre L. (‘21)
“I play video games and exercise. In order to do well and feel prepared I usually review all of my notes and visit my professors’ office hours for anything I still need help with. I recommend prioritizing your hardest, most important exams first, and once you feel good about those, move on to the classes you feel more confident in.”
Brighid H. (‘21)
“To de-stress I get my work done ahead of time and start preparing for my exams a couple of weeks in advance. In order to feel prepared, I re-write every single one of my notes for every to help soak the material in and I do practice problems. I recommend outlining an hour by hour to-do list and rotate subjects regularly.”
Christina R. (‘21)
“I work out and start preparing for finals early in order to avoid procrastination. In order to feel prepared, I spend several days finishing up editing projects and essays way before I begin studying for exams. I recommend using a planner and creating a detailed, weekly schedule where you block out times that you want to study for each of your classes. I usually include eating and exercising in the schedule as well.”
We are all going through this together and with the right preparation you will feel relaxed and ready to tackle your finals!
