Assistant Teaching Professor

Pamela Macias, ASLTA-certified, currently teaches ASL courses within the SLHS department.  Pamela is culturally Deaf and is an ASL native. She held a graduate degree in Social Science & Law in Deafhood Studies from the University of Bristol, UK. She published her study as a chapter in 'Interdisciplinary Approaches to Disability,' vol. 2, focusing on collecting narratives of Deaf education, Deaf identity, and role models related to political, psychological, and sociological factors. Currently, she serves on the steering committee of Art of Access, promoting access and inclusion across Denver and its regions. She is passionate about educating people about ASL and Deaf culture & community.
