Victor Hernandez is the Middle School Assistant Director with the Pre-College Development Program (PCDP) at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder. PCDP’s purpose is to develop prospective ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ first generation middle and high school students via pipeline programming. Victor has worked at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder’s campus since 2007 within the Office of Diversity Equity and Community Engagement and the Division of Student Affairs as the Student Outreach Retention center for Equity Director and as an Associate Director with the Center for Unity and Engagement. Prior to these opportunities, Victor served as the Youth Violence Prevention Coordinator where he managed a grant and oversaw ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ State Youth Violence Prevention Grants for the State of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥. Victor’s nonprofit experience includes his services as the Shelter Manager for Urban Peak in Denver, the only licensed homeless and runaway youth shelter in ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥. He was responsible for not only identifying and locating homeless young people in Denver’s urban areas, but also working with his staff to fulfill their obligation to these youths by making sure that the housing, food, educational and occupational needs of these homeless young people were met. Â
The desire to work with and to help people has always motivated Victor and has helped shape his philosophy about people’s optimism and their ability to turn their lives around. He believes that people are inherently good and deserving of the right to pursue quality of life; he hopes that he is making a difference in this regard. Victor received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Human Resources Management from the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder and a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Regis University in Denver.
