Elias Sacks, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies and Director of Graduate Studies for the Program in Jewish Studies, recently published an article in the Journal of Religious Ethics. Entitled “Law, Ethics, and the Needs of History: Mendelssohn, Krochmal, and Moral Philosophy,” the essay revisits two foundational modern Jewish thinkers, Moses Mendelssohn and Nachman Krochmal, and explores their relevance for contemporary debates about law and ethics. In August 2016, Professor Sacks will give the inaugural talk of the ֱ Boulder Jewish Studies Peak-to-Peak Lecture Series in Aspen. In September, he will speak at a conference at Arizona State University entitled “The Future of Jewish Philosophy.” Professor Sacks’s forthcoming book, Moses Mendelssohn’s Living Script: Philosophy, Practice, History, Judaism (Indiana University Press), will appear in December 2016.
