Photo from NASA HST the Pillars of creationThe famous Pillars of Creation within the Eagle Nebula (AKA M16) as ! This nebula sits 7,000 light-years from Earth within the inner Sagittarius-Carina Arm of the Milky Way. These incredible pillars are a part of a stellar nursery where new stars are being created. The winds from these new stars are slowly deteriorating these ethereal towers. The colors show us what gases are present —Ìý blue for oxygen, red for sulfur, and green for nitrogen and hydrogen. M16 is in the constellation of Serpens and is best viewed through a small telescope or binoculars around 2am!Ìý
