Jana MilfordProfessor Jana Milford was recently appointed by Governor Jared Polis to a third three-year term on the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Air Quality Control Commission, which oversees air quality regulations for the state.

Milford is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Environmental Engineering Program. Her research and teaching focus on air quality modeling and data analysis, thermal sciences, environmental impacts of energy systems, and environmental law and policy. ÌýMilford is one of nine members on the Commission.

The ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Air Quality Control Commission comprises members appointed by the governor and authorized by the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ General Assembly. The commission oversees ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s air quality program according to the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Air Pollution Prevention and Control Act. It is responsible for adopting an efficient and cost-effective air quality management program that promotes clean and healthy air for ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥'s citizens and protects ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥'s natural resources.

During her tenure on the commission, Milford and her fellow members have strengthened emissions regulations for the oil and gas industry and adopted standards to maintain progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from light-duty cars and trucks.

“I'm looking forward to working with the commission in the coming year to further advance ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥'s goals for improving our air quality, especially for reducing ozone pollution. The ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ legislature just passed several new laws addressing oil and gas emissions and climate change, so we'll have a busy year developing regulations to implement their requirements.â€
