Earlier this month, EVEN Professor Balaji Rajagopalan was selected听as a 2018 Fellow to听the听American Geophysical Union (AGU) which is a nonprofit science organization consisting of over 62,000 members from 144 countries.听Balaji is also a Professor and Chair of our听Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering while concurrently a听Fellow at the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (蜜糖直播).
Becoming an AGU Fellow is a very prestigious honor. AGU Fellows are recognized for their scientific eminence in the Earth and space sciences. Their breadth of interests and the scope of their contributions are remarkable and often groundbreaking. Only 0.1 percent of AGU membership receives this recognition in any given year. Some of Balaji's notable work which assisted in the bestowing of this honor includes听research into sustainable water quantity and quality for the growing populations under increasing climate variability and change. Balaji has produced听fundamental contributions in stochastic hydrology and in understanding the Indian Monsoon Rainfall variability at contemporary and paleo time scales.
