Curiosity is the lifeblood of creativity and critical problem-solving. It activates, pursues, grows, empowers, challenges, changes, inspires, strengthens, and builds. Most importantly, curiosity helps us survive.
Time is the abstract currency by which we measure progress and achievement. Unfortunately, its inherent limitations and linear nature frequently clash with our self-knowledge and expectations inhibiting our ability to channel it in service of our goals. As you begin this new academic year, reflect on your relationship with time.
As part of an independent study course, the students working on the project have spent the summer retrofitting ENVD 134A: installing new carpet tiles to mitigate sound reflection, adding updated lighting systems and constructing floor-to-ceiling shelving units built to accommodate and showcase the variety of design materials.
Over the summer, a hard-working group of faculty, staff and students spent months updating studio spaces in both the basement and eastern wing of the third floor.
Established in July 2022, the Staff Leadership Team has been charged to work as a cohesive unit to lead, assess and support the program’s culture of development and engagement amongst staff, and will play an integral role in realizing the program’s core mission while working with ENVD Director Stacey Schulte, the Executive Committee and Executive Leadership team to support the goals and needs of the program.
In spring 2023, four students submitted work to the Milan Affordable Housing Challenge, a design competition part of the Buildner’s architecture competition series. The series is aimed at addressing the global housing crisis and redefining urban living.
Carr Tancig will earn a B.EnvD specializing in architecture with a minor in business and plans to go abroad to Italy this summer before entering the workforce.
