On April 25, 2019, the Creative Writing Association is hostedÌýthe final portion of the Poetry Month Performer Series: a reading by Danez Smith! The event wasÌýheld in Club 156 (in the UMC).
Danez Smith is a back, queer, poz writer and performer from St. Paul, Minnesota. Danez is the author ofÌýDon’t Call Us DeadÌý(Graywolf Press, 2017), winner of the Forward Prize for Best Collection, the Midwest Booksellers Choice Award and a finalist for the National Book Award, andÌý[insert] boyÌý(YesYes Books, 2014), winner of the Kate Tufts Discovery Award and the Lambda Literary Award for Gay Poetry. Danez is a member of the Dark Noise Collective and is the co-host ofÌýVS with Franny Choi, a podcast sponsored by the Poetry Foundation and Postloudness. Danez’s third collectionÌýHomieÌýwill be published by Graywolf in spring 2020.
